Book Street in Thu Duc City to open in Ho Chi Minh City next week

The Ho Thi Tu Street Book Street, situated in Hiep Phu Ward, is set to open from December 22nd to January 1st, treating visitors with a range of music performances, cultural activities, and engaging programs. The Thu Duc City People’s Committee is committed to providing a space to promote the tradition of reading, enrich cultural and tourism offerings, and create a reading space by opening the book street. The book street spans approximately 190.6 meters in length, covering an area of over 3,500 square meters. Operating from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm daily, the book street features different areas such as the Ho Chi Minh culture space, a reading area, an old book section, a brain-training games playground, a book-themed coffee space, and a main stage. HCM City’s largest flower village busy preparing for Tet holiday

For nearly a decade an area of roughly 40,000 square metres on Le Thi Rieng street in Thoi An ward in the outlying District 12 has been used in order to grow flowers to serve the extra demand around Tet. The flower village which is located in the northwest of downtown area of Ho Chi Minh City is now entering its busiest time of the year. Chrysanthemum, marigold, crested chicken, and sunflowers are the main flowers which are grown here. Local people must work hard as a means of ensuring the flower’s fast growth and flowering in time for Tet. Pots filled with daisies are carefully tended to so they can be sold at the Tet market. To prepare for the Lunar New Year festival, gardens have created extra jobs for many local people, who typically earn between VND150,000 and VND200,000 daily. Can Tho exhibitions feature 1968 spring offensive, Paris Peace Accords

The “55 years of Mau Than 1968 – Unfading memories” exhibition displays 60 photos and many valuable items depicting historical stories and memories of the army and people of Can Tho in particular, and the southern region and the whole country in general in the resistance war against foreign invaders, for national liberation and reunification. Meanwhile, the “The Paris Agreement on Vietnam – The Door to Peace” exhibition comprises of over 150 documents, objects and photos highlighting efforts of the Vietnamese people for the negotiations, signing and enforcement of the Paris Peace Accords. The two will remain open until April 10. Vietnamese film distributor to be honoured at CineAsia Awards 2022

“For over 20 years, Ms. Huong has established herself as a leader in the media and entertainment industry. We cannot think of a more deserving recipient for this year’s award,” stated Andrew Sunshine, president of Film Expo Group, which manages CineAsia. The award marks the second time that Vietnamese film distributor Thanh Huong has been honoured with the title since 2019.
