Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh received President Attilio Fontana of Italy’s Lombardy region and an Italian delegation. They discussed potential areas of cooperation between the two regions, including transport, smart urban areas, bioenergy, green energy transition, education, high-quality personnel training, and clean agriculture.

Chairman Tran Sy Thanh commended the achievements of Lombardy and expressed his hope for increased collaboration in infrastructure development, mechanics, renewable energy, environment, and training in architecture and fashion. He also acknowledged the role of the Italian Embassy in promoting friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

President Fontana, during a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, affirmed Vietnam’s importance as a partner of Italy. He highlighted Vietnam’s potential for sustainable and comprehensive development and proposed measures to enhance bilateral ties in agriculture, industry, aviation, high technology, tertiary education, and more.

Fontana expressed the region’s desire to strengthen cooperation and access the ASEAN market through Vietnam.
