Exploring Vietnamese Culture Through Water Puppetry: The German President’s Wife’s Journey

During their state visit to Vietnam, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife, Elke Büdenbender, visited the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre. Elke Büdenbender went behind the scenes and talked to the artists to gain a deeper understanding of the art of water puppetry and their work.
As part of their visit to the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre, the first ladies of Vietnam and Germany received special gifts from the theatre. Water puppetry is a traditional art form in Vietnam that dates back to the 11th century. The shows depict scenes from rural life, including landscapes, bamboo trees, and traditional activities like fishing and rice cultivation.
The wives of the Vietnamese and German Presidents posed for a photo with the artists at the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre. Vietnam and Germany established diplomatic relations in 1975 and elevated their ties to a strategic partnership in 2011. The year 2024 is significant as it leads up to the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2025.

Hanoi welcomes return of European Day of Languages

Run by the Council of Europe and organised annually by the European Union National Institutes of Culture, European Day of Languages offers people the chance to experience a multilingual environment whilst enjoying a day full of activities and prizes. Participating representatives will be given a platform to present their languages and countries. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn some words in Czech, Romanian, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, and Spanish, as well as getting an insight into the linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe. Vietnam defeat Australia in U20 Asian Cup

Vietnam entered the match as the widely-considered underdogs. The Golden Stars netted their goal in the sixth minute of play following a counter-attack initiated by Khuat Van Khang and finished by Quoc Viet, who fired a stunner into the goal from 20 meters out. Vietnam selected among Top 8 Best Bikini at Miss Earth 2023

After receiving 28,000 likes, 1,200 comments, and 461,000 shares on the official Facebook page of the Miss Earth pageant, Lan Anh stands out. Among the Top 8 Best Bikini contestants for continental groups, Miss Earth Vietnam and Miss Earth Philippines from the Asia and Oceania group secured their spots. The Africa group featured beauties from Madagascar and Zimbabwe, while Paraguay and Venezuela represented the Americas. Miss Earth Bulgaria and Miss Earth Netherlands had the highest scores in the Europe group.
