President Thuong and Indonesian counterpart witness martial art showcases



This is the second time the Indonesian leader has visited Vietnam as a State guest, the first being in September 2018.


Local artists performed various art shows during the event.


Martial artists showcased Pencak Silat, a traditional Indonesian martial art.


Pencak Silat is also popular in Vietnam and has helped local athletes achieve great results in international competitions.


Traditional Vietnamese martial arts were also showcased during the event.


The event is expected to foster friendship and mutual understanding between Vietnam and Indonesia.


The two State leaders took a group photo with the martial artists.

Vietnamese Movie Wins TAICCA Prize

The competition is part of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival that is taking place in the Republic of Korea (RoK) from June 29 to July 7. The film project directed by Oscar Duong and produced by Hang Trinh was the only Vietnamese representative to clinch the prize in the “It Project” category. This category is for film projects that are in the content development stage. “Sesame Has Its Soul” tells the story of Vietnamese women who immigrate to the RoK and their hidden pain when the beauty standards in the country are a great burden for Vietnamese – Korean women in particular, as well as globally in general. At the event, film director Oscar Duong shared that he hopes the project will soon be completed and screened in both Vietnam and foreign countries in the near future. Vietnamese Coastline Hosts Sighting of Whale Shark

Nhat Phong, a local tour guide, reported that he and a group of tourists had a remarkable encounter with a shark during a boat trip to the coral reefs along Bai Dua Beach. The shark sighting occurred on Thursday at 11:45 am. Phong revealed that the tourists initially spotted the shark’s large fin on the water surface, which got them all excited. They requested the captain to turn the boat around for a closer look. As they approached, they noticed the shark swimming slower and appearing friendly. Phong and the tour group managed to capture footage of the four-meter shark, marveling at its size and the white spots covering its body. Initially, they mistook it for a whale.
